Hotel
Hotel Real Oeiras is the closest hotel to the venue. It's about a five-minute drive or a 25-minute walk. If you plan on partying late into the night, we recommend staying at this hotel the night of the wedding.
Travel Note
1. Uber or Bolt (European competitor): Generally, the best balance of convenience, comfort, and price. Bolt tends to be a bit cheaper. The pickup location is inside the parking garage just outside the arrivals terminal. Follow the signs in the airport. You will need a smartphone with a data plan and have the apps downloaded. 2. Taxi. This is the easiest but likely the most expensive option. There are taxi stands just outside the arrivals terminal. Follow the signs. Fees vary depending on distance, time of day, and luggage. 3. Public transportation. The airport has a metro station that connects to the city center. Follow the signs in the airport. This may be the cheapest option, depending on the number of people in your group, but you should be prepared to haul your luggage around. Google Maps can help you figure out connections. Be aware that there are multiple versions of public transportation. 4. Private car/shuttle. You may be able to arrange a private car or shuttle service through your hotel. This can generally be booked in advance online.
Travel Note
The address for the venue is: Quinta do Torneiro Estr. Q.ta do Torneiro, 2770-144 Paço de Arcos, Portugal The venue is down a long driveway. We recommend staying at one of the nearby hotels and walking if you are able. Other options include taking a rideshare (Uber or Bolt), a taxi, or renting a car (parking is available at the venue). Public transportation is likely not a great option due to the need for multiple connections and limited service at night.
Travel Note
Depending on where you are staying, you can walk, take a train, or try one of the old-fashioned cable cars when getting around the city. Uber and its competitor, Bolt, are also great options. Car rentals are also available, but not recommended unless you are very familiar with driving internationally and in dense urban areas. Parking can be extremely challenging, and many areas were not designed with cars in mind. If you decide to rent a car, parking is available at the venue.
Travel Note
Similar to the United States, Portugal has strict standards regarding child seats for private transportation. Taxis and public transportation are exempt from these requirements. Rideshare services may provide child seat options but cannot transport children if they are not in an age-appropriate child seat. Consider researching ground transportation and child seat options before traveling. Some, but not all, restaurants have kids' menus. However, there are plenty of great Portuguese options for even the pickiest eaters. Almost every restaurant serves great French fries in Lisbon! Most places have short lines, but you may want to consider skip-the-line ticket options for popular tourist destinations.
