Macy and Chris’s story started the way a lot of great ones do—without either of them realizing it at first. Back in 2019, while Macy was finishing her Freshman year and Chris was a Junior, they were in the same circle but hadn’t really crossed paths yet. That changed the day Macy was talking about finally getting her driver’s license, and Chris casually chimed in, “Oh hey, cool—you can drive me around.” Not exactly a love confession… but it got things started. After that, something shifted. The glances turned into staring, the staring turned into curiosity, and eventually, one day after school, Macy decided to start a conversation. What was said exactly? That depends on who you ask. Chris will tell you Macy was “laying it on him,” while Macy strongly disagrees—but honestly, that’s just part of who they are. Then summer came—and everything changed. Every single day, they went to Marine Street Beach. Chris would get dropped off early in the morning, just waiting for Macy to arrive. Meanwhile, Macy was at home doing everything she could negotiating with her parents to let her go to the beach again. Their relationship wasn’t exactly a secret… except to Macy’s parents. That summer included plenty of “sleepovers” at friends’ houses that somehow ended with her location mysteriously glitching while the two of them were out wandering Clairemont with friends, just being kids. Of course, nothing stays a secret forever. One day, Macy’s parents picked her up from the beach and saw Chris—confirming what they already suspected. It was also at Marine Street where Chris officially asked Macy to be his girlfriend, shared their first kiss, and many other things that don't need to be written or typed ever.... To this day, they both say that was the best summer of their lives. When school started again, they came back even closer—sharing classes, showing up late after early mornings spent watching Chris surf, and finding any excuse to be together. They even made a deal with their teacher/coach: play tennis, and they’d pass his class. As the years passed, one thing became obvious to everyone around them: their relationship is built on something rare. They’re not just in love—they’re best friends. The way they laugh, the way they interact, the way they just get each other—it’s the kind of connection people hope to find. Eventually... an entire SIX YEARS in the making, Chris asked Macy’s dad, Josh, for his blessing. And when it came time to propose, there was really only one place it could happen: Marine Street Beach. Macy, being Macy, had a feeling it was coming—but how it happened still caught her off guard. The first clue? Chris asking her to dress up for a sunset/sushi date… Suspicious. Then came the drive. Chris, for once, let Macy control the music while he drove—which should’ve been the biggest red flag of all. Meanwhile, Macy was fully in her own world, singing along, completely unbothered. Now, anyone who knows Macy knows she couldn’t tell you what freeway she’s on to save her life—she just knows if she is or isn't close to the coast... Thank Goodness for GPS! So even as they were driving straight toward the beach on the I-5… she had no idea. Chris, on the other hand, was trying to keep it together and hoping she didn’t notice anything. She didn’t of course. It actually kind of worried him. She genuinely had no idea. When they got down to their spot at Marine Street, Chris had set up a blanket with candles, and that’s where he asked her to marry him. She said yes. Now, Macy and Chris are living together in Vista, building their future side by side. Chris is an electrician, just a couple classes away from becoming a journeyman, and Macy is finishing her journey to become an ultrasound technician, also just a few classes from the finish line. From high school hallways, to endless beach days, to building a life together—this is only the beginning of their story..... And they can’t wait to celebrate it with all of YOU.
