Our Story

The Wedding Website of Macy Laegeler and Carpenter Mooney
Welcome all, to the thrill that is the story of me, the one and only Carpenter Mooney, sweeping the marvelous Macy Laegeler off her feet, and convincing her to join me as we pursue Christ together, forever.

Beginnings

Greek Summit - 2020 - just friends:)

Our story begins in 2020 at the University of Florida. Macy and I first met through our mutual friend, Heather, when Macy became her Big sister in their sorority. With hands tucked within her sleeves like a blonde Arianna Grande, and an impenetrable posse of her 4 closest best friends, Macy took little interest in me, my buzz cut, and my freshman ways. I, however, noticed Macy immediately. On one instance, after my 19th birthday party in which Macy and her friends had attended, I shared with a friend that Macy was “my ideal girl”, being a beautiful, fun, and God loving woman. Unfortunately, it took me quite some time to act on this fascination. That summer, when both of us said yes to a summer mission project with Doulos, the Greek life student ministry at the University of Florida, our friendship was formed via shared passions for spikeball, the beach, and walking out our faith in Christ in our fraternity and sorority. Over the next year, we both served on the executive board for this student ministry and spent a significant amount of time getting to know each other, and I became an admirer of Macy from afar. Our friend groups merged, and our friendship grew closer and closer. Games of Catan, beach volleyball, and late nights at Tropical Smoothie became my way of spending time with Macy.

Macy is my Girlfriend!

"Dunkaroo slap" - 2023 - just days after starting to date

In my mind, being anything more than friends with Macy felt unattainable. It was kind of like seeing an adorable cat you want to pet, but the risk of having the cat get spooked and run off because you confessed your long-standing, subconscious romantic feelings for the cat feels too high, so you decide you are okay with not saying how you truly feel if it means that the cat will stay nearby because you love being around the cat so much. I think you get the picture. In the fall of 2022, after nearly a year of this mentality, I decided this was no way to live. I asked Macy on our first date, and to my delight, she said yes! We went to Cold Stone Creamery, and I had ice cream while Macy watched hers melt on the table because she was so nervous of my good looks, charm, and humility. We started dating shortly after in January of 2023 once she overcame her fears. We finished out her last semester of college as a new couple before she moved to Tennessee to begin the Nashville Fellows Program.

Overcame Long Distance!

Nashville - 2024 - Thriving together once again

We dated long-distance for one painstaking, but undeniably formative year. We learned to communicate well, take an interest in each other’s lives, and how to sacrificially serve one another. When I graduated from college, I also moved to Nashville for the Fellows Program. Here we got to finally grow alongside each other and have countless friends, mentors, and circumstances affirm the call we had been feeling to continue pursuing a lifelong partnership.

Macy Is Going to Marry Me!

Secured the bag - April 12, 2025

On April 12th, 2025, more than 2 years since we had started dating, I asked Macy to marry me! I proposed in Centennial Park in Nashville, amid the lush Spring foliage of the park, and led her to a surprise party of all our closest friends and family to celebrate. This day was undoubtedly the best day of my life… so far. As we look toward December 28th, 2025, both Macy and I are eagerly preparing and anticipating beginning a life of sacrificial love toward one another, demonstrating the love that Christ showed his bride, the Church, by laying down his life on the cross for the forgiveness of sins in pursuit of a relationship with his beloved people. Thank you for sticking with me in reading this far, and for partnering with us in our journey towards each other. I cannot wait to celebrate with all of you! In the meantime, please pray for Macy and me that we would prepare well for our life together, growing in our love for each other and God. Grace and Peace, Carpenter Mooney
