Both of us were living in separate states after college, working our first full-time jobs in new cities. In 2023, we both came home for Thanksgiving and found each other online. On Christmas Eve, we went on our first date. Everything was closed, so the only place to meet was the Meskwaki casino. Although this is quite a unique location for a first date, both of us will tell you this was the best day ever. We quickly hit it off, realizing there were so many connections between us we never even knew about. Joe's dad, Chris, built Macy's childhood home. Macy babysat Joe's cousin in high school. We had many mutual family friends, grew up incredibly close to each other, but never knew the other existed. Soon after, Macy moved to Madison, Wisconsin. Both of us lived here together for about a year before moving back to Iowa in February of 2025. We bought our first home in Marshalltown, started new jobs, and collected way too many pets in the process. Life has never felt simpler, happier, or more fulfilling.
