Gregory and Macrina are high school sweethearts who met at Rock Solid High School during their junior year. They fell in love during their junior trip to Summit Ministries in Manitou Springs. While sitting on a bus seat together, they noticed an empty coffee cup on the floor. Greg’s wheels were turning. “Speaking of coffee…” Greg mentioned smoothly,” would you... like to go out for coffee?” He’s pretty proud of that moment. And soon, on June 9, 2017, Greg picked up Macrina in his unairconditioned jeep named “Gertrude.” Over coffee and tea at Steep, the two began their journey together as “McGreg.” After they both moved to Arizona to attend separate universities, together they found their church home in Phoenix, Christ Church Anglican. There they met people who would support them over the next year by inviting them to be a part of a small group on Tuesday nights and to serve in the church. There, they also went through pre-marital counseling with Father Matt.
Greg and Macrina came back to Colorado for the summer. On the 26th, Greg took Macrina up to Red Mountain, near Summit in Manitou Springs (where everything began!). After a bit of sweaty hiking, they reached the top with a wonderful view. Greg brought along a tripod and gave it to Macrina to set up on a tree--unbeknownst to Macrina, a great distraction! As she was fiddling with it, trying to figure out how to set it up, Greg was behind her. As Macrina turned around saying, “I don’t know how to do this,” Greg got down on one knee and popped the question. Full of joy and love, the two began their journey as an officially engaged couple. And now they are so excited to celebrate this next chapter in their lives with you.
