Jim was an Oklahoma City Public School teacher just starting his second year teaching history for Teach for America. Sarah was a defense attorney that spent too much time thinking about crime and her cats. They decided to try E-Harmony. Sarah was on the site for less than a week before she met Jim. She was charmed by his obsession with Napoleon and Les Miserables. They had their first date at a trendy outdoor bar in the Oklahoma City art's district on a fateful Tuesday. The rest is now history.
Jim and Sarah spent Christmas in Needham, MA, with his family. They had talked about the possibility of marriage, and Sarah knew that a ring had been purchased. Christmas night Jim told her that the ring was still in Dallas and that she would have to wait. December 27th was a blustery day in Boston, with temperatures in the single digits. Jim had planned a day at the Boston Aquarium, to be followed by walking around Boston, a drink at Faneuil Hall, and dinner with his family in the North End. There was also a last minute plan to visit a federal courthouse near the aquarium. Sarah spent far too long watching the penguin feeding before Jim convinced her that it was time to leave. They had trouble finding the courthouse and, driven by the wind and the cold, Sarah insisted that they just go to Faneuil Hall. Jim agreed and began to take (unbeknownst to Sarah) a circuitous route. As they were walking through Christopher Columbus park, Jim suddenly disappeared from Sarah's side. She thought he had fallen over, but he was on one knee. Of course she said yes! Jim was easily forgiven for his Christmas night misdirection.
