Mackenzii, Sean and Thea frequent this hike as it is mellow, has a good view of Denver, Red Rocks, and is right next to the house. There are a bunch of different routes ranging from 1 mile to 13 miles, so there is something for everyone. Bring sunscreen and walking shoes!
This area is 7 miles from the Red Barn and has hotels. Lots and lots of casinos if you like to test your money! The company Sean works for completed this hotel casino in the fall of 2009 with a final contract value of $180,619,000. Fun Fact: The luxurious 458,000-SF resort hotel is the tallest building between Denver and Salt Lake City and the highest elevation high-rise tower constructed in the continental United States.
You can shuttle this if your legs aren't what you wish they were, that's what Sean does. The top lot is the White Ranch west parking lot. Just a warning this trail is rowdy. It has consistent rock gardens and 1 foot drops. Sean loves using this trail to help get ready for Moab. If you are up for the suffer fest of the climb then start at the east trailhead. You can rent bikes at either the Boulder Experience Center or Outbound Mountain Gear in Evergreen. Say hello to Mike and Ryan at Outbound!
An awesome venue if you are into live music! While the name Zeds Dead might be from one of the best Tarantino movies, we have no idea if their music is any good, but they will be playing during the weekend.
Eleven Mile Reservoir is one of Colorado's most beautiful boating reservoirs (grand lake being the most). Catch Rainbow Trout, Snake River Cutthroat Trout, Cutbows (a cross between rainbow and cutthroat), Brown Trout, Northern Pike, Yellow Perch, and Kokanee Salmon. On the mouth of eleven mile reservoir is the Dream Stream which is gold medal waters, tough fish to catch especially as they will be moving slow with the heat of July but full of opportunity. Fun fact, Seans most successful duck hunt was on the far west side of eleven mile. Out of excitement Sean sent Mackenzii a picture of him next to the haul of ducks which was the first real test of their relationship as Mackenzii is not the biggest fan of dead animals. If you have any additional questions about fishing in the state, reach out to Nick Morrissey 248-462-1674.
These a small ponds that are a short walk west of the wedding location. Bring rods to the wedding and have fun seeing what trout you can land!
One of Mackenzii's favorite none hole-in-the-wall bars. This has an old school arcade, and great drinks, but it's no Death and Co. (Dana Houghton's Fav)
This is the Hall Ranch trail system. Check it out on the MTB project as there are several trails. This is a faster flow trail with decent views. A great warmup for a weekend of mountain biking in Colorado.
Go cheer on the Rockies and overpay for beer as they take on the Arizona D-backs! Fun fact, Sean has never left Coors Field sober, and his company recently completed McGregor Square, which is an awesome place to check out.
This is right next to the Red Barn, bring your hiking, climbing and fishing things to the wedding!!
Known nationally as an exceptional place to fly-fish, this area of Colorado is spectacular in views and aquatic life. The fish are tough here so be ready to work for them. It also gets fairly busy so keep that in mind. Just remember to always wet your hands before handling fish and release them gently. The location on this recommendation is near the corner store, there is fishing mainly north of the store.
We hear this is an incredible place and the pictures seem like quite a trip...It looks great for entertaining kids.
