Walking the lakefront path is something that we do every day. Fun fact: The DuSable Harbor on the lake path is where Nicholas proposed!
We love to go up to Lincoln Park and stop by the zoo and conservatory. The zoo has free admission and is great to get some fresh air, gets some steps in, and check in on your favorite animals - for Nicholas, it's the lions, for Kenzie, it's the seals. The conservatory also has free admission, but you'll need to reserve a timed ticket online. Once you're done in Lincoln Park, highly recommend walking over to Chicago's Dog House on Fullerton for a hot dog.
This museum is not for the faint of heart - it is BIG! We definitely recommend getting your tickets ahead of time to skip the line. The Art Institute is on one end of Millenium Park and the Bean is on the other. One of our favorite exhibits are the Thorne Rooms. These are a set of approximately 100 miniature models of rooms created between 1932 and 1940.
Similar to the Art Institute, the Field Museum is massive. Our recommendation is to pick an exhibit or two to go see. If you try to do the whole museum, you won't have enough energy for the dance floor. We recommend stopping by to see Chicago's most famous resident (in Nicholas' opinion) - Sue the T.Rex!
One of our favorite Friday activities is to take the afternoon off and catch a game. Even if the Cubs have an away game, it is so worth going by to check out the stadium and neighborhood. Lots of fun bars and restaurants!
The Riverwalk is another great way to get amazing views and fresh air! There are lots of riverfront cafes and restaurants. If you don't want to walk along the river, catch an architecture cruise. It's a great way to see the city from a different view and learn a bit of history at the same time!
