Mackenzie and Michael met during the summer of 2024 through mutual friends. What began as a casual meeting quickly turned into hours of nonstop conversation. Neither of us wanted the night to end, and as ridiculous as it might sound - we both knew that night we had found our forever person. Before their first date, Mackenzie told her mom about Michael, mentioning his dad, Carl Hornbeck, a former police officer and judge in the town of Rosendale. To her surprise, Mackenzie’s mom immediately knew exactly who she was talking about. Carl had been close friends with Mackenzie’s grandpa, Curt—so close that Carl had babysat Mackenzie’s mom as a child, and Curt had even been the best man in Carl’s first wedding (photo below!). Though the families had lost touch over the years, Mackenzie and Michael’s relationship led to a teary-eyed reunion that made the whole thing feel less like a coincidence and more like fate quietly tying us together all along. In November 2024, Mackenzie and Michael moved in together, along with their dog, Obi, who quickly made it clear he was really the one in charge. In August 2025 they celebrated their one-year anniversary with a cruise to the Bahamas. Michael proposed—and Mackenzie said yes (no hesitation required). What began as one special night has grown into a life full of love, laughter, and memories to come. Mackenzie and Michael are thrilled to celebrate their special day with you on October 11, 2026.
