Our Love Story

Depending on who you ask, Mackenzie and Drew technically met in high school - though Mackenzie may or may not have left Drew on read before they both headed off to college (we’ll let them debate the details). Fast forward a few months, and surprise! They both ended up not only at the same university, Old Dominion, but in the same dorm. Clearly, God had a plan. Thanks to their dear friend Drew Roadarmel, who put two and two together, the pair were set up on a casual dinner date… in the glamorous setting of the campus dining hall. What started as a simple meal turned into a strong friendship that lasted over a year - filled with late-night talks, campus events, long drives home, and lots of laughter. In March 2017, that friendship officially turned into something more. Since then, Mackenzie and Drew have been each other's biggest supporters, best friends, and now soon-to-be forever partners. Along the way, they added Kobe (an energetic German Shepherd) to the mix. Let’s just say, there were moments during the puppy phase that tested their patience and possibly their relationship... but now, he’s the heartbeat of their little family. Mackenzie and Drew have always been open about one thing: their faith. From the very beginning, their walk with Christ has guided them through every high and low. As they prepare for marriage, they do so with hearts grounded in love, grace, and a commitment to keep God at the center of their relationship. They look forward to building a life that reflects their faith, filled with purpose, joy, and service to others. This story wouldn’t be complete without honoring Drew Roadarmel—the friend who saw something special and brought them together. Her presence, friendship, and kindness are remembered with deep love and gratitude. Though she is no longer with us, her impact lives on in the story she helped begin. Philippians 1:3
