How did Johnny and Mackenzie first meet and start dating?

The love story of Johnny and Mackenzie begins in Johnny’s backyard. They first met each other when Mackenzie was staying with Johnny’s cousins before working at Kanakuk the Summer of 2022. Johnny’s cousins suggested going swimming at Johnny’s house, and so Johnny joined. Mackenzie likes to joke that the Lord made it easy for Johnny to find his future wife because she just showed up in his backyard one day. Fast forward to Fall 2023, when Johnny was a freshman and Mackenzie was a senior at Olivet Nazarene University. Johnny and Mackenzie were friends when they met each other again in the Orpheus choir. With mutual friends, they began hanging out all the time. Johnny quickly became interested in Mackenzie and wanted to ask her out. The majority of people are in shock that a freshman boy asked out a senior girl, but they wouldn’t change a thing. Johnny first made a move on Mackenzie as they were watching the musical Hamilton in Chicago with their friends. That week, they went on their first date on November 4th, to Brickstone Brewery, and it went really well. Johnny said that from the very beginning, he always knew Mackenzie was the one for him. Throughout November, they went on many dates and spent much time together. On November 27th, 2023, Johnny asked Mackenzie if she would be his girlfriend.

Johnny and Mackenzie's Dating Experience

From the start of dating, Johnny and Mackenzie loved each other’s company, and still today, they try to spend as much time as they can together. While they were dating, they played many question games, traveled to over 11 states, supported each other, spent time with family and friends, and went to many sports games. They became best friends who were able to bring out the best in each other. Two years flew by with a lot of laughter, adventures, Taco Bell runs, and love. On August 21st, 2025, Johnny asked Mackenzie to marry him, and she said yes! Johnny and Mackenzie thank the Lord every day for experiencing a love like this. They give all glory and thanks to God for blessing them with the opportunity to enter into the gift of marriage. They would like to thank all the people who supported and encouraged them as they progressed from friends to dating to engagement. Johnny and Mackenzie are thrilled for this new season of their relationship and are planning for the beginning of their life together!
