While our story started with us both living in the NYC area, it wasn't until we were both back in our home city of Boston that we first met! In 2020, Mackenzie was living in New York City while Jeff was living in Hoboken. In March we matched on a dating app and were planning to meet for drinks. The day before our date was scheduled, COVID hit and everyone was leaving the big city. Mackenzie went to Florida with her brother – for what she thought would only be a couple weeks. We cancelled our date, COVID ended up keeping Mackenzie in Florida for a few months, and we didn't know if we would reconnect again. That is, until Mackenzie came back to her hometown of Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA that summer. Jeff also happened to be in his hometown of Winchester, MA for a month during the summer while he was transitioning to a new apartment in Jersey City. Mackenzie was hanging out with her best friend Maggy – while Maggy's husband, Will, was out golfing with his friend in Boston. That friend turned out to be Jeff. Maggy and Will put the pieces together, and about 3 hours later, Jeff and Mackenzie met for the first time. We all went to a friends house and Jeff, in perfect Jeff fashion, made a bet with Mackenzie on a boxing match that would result in him taking her out on their first date. A couple moves later – back to the NYC area, then finally settling back home in Boston – the rest is history!
