Mackenzie and Jason's paths nearly crossed in the Spring of 2019. Mackenzie was working as a travel manager at a luxury travel company in San Diego and Jason had recently joined the company as a guide. Mackenzie was managing a client's Utah trip and Jason was shadowing another guide at the company. Mackenzie knew a guy with the last name "Hamburger" was in the field, and Jason knew there was a girl named "Mackenzie" in the office. Little did they know this was a missed connection.

Mackenzie had moved back to Phoenix, gotten a new job and was swiping through Hinge, a dating app when she came across a photo of a cute, smiling rock climber with curly hair named Jason. She liked the photo, and a few minutes later he messaged her, asking if she'd worked at EXP Journeys. She was initially creeped out, as the company was very small and she'd been gone 6 months at that point. She said she had and asked how he knew that. He then pointed out in one of her photos she was wearing a bandana with the company's logo. *Facepalm* They chatted back and forth for a few weeks and he finally asked her to dinner. They shared a pad thai and lasagna, and the rest is history!
