David Gariboldi

and

Mackenzie Higgins

July 15, 2023

Tacoma, WA

Our Story

Ten years ago, David and Mackenzie connected quickly after meeting through a chance online encounter. After several months of courtship, they had grown to adore each other and David took a flight to Seattle to meet Mackenzie for the first time. College and jobs kept them thousands of miles apart for three years after that, but it didn’t stop them from falling in love hard. While the distance was difficult, they looked forward to occasional trips to David’s home in Phoenix, AZ and summers spent at Mackenzie’s home in the Puget Sound area of WA state. Eventually, Mackenzie was able to move down to Phoenix to be with David (and her dad!). While we don’t know which states our next chapters will take us to, it just felt right to hold our wedding in Washington state. It means so much for us to get married in a place that feels like home for both of us, and we are so excited for you to join us!

The Proposal

December 31st, 2020

David proposed at the Space Needle on New Years Eve. He managed to keep the ring hidden all the way from Phoenix to Seattle for their Christmastime trip. The afternoon began with a surprise trip to Chihuly Garden and Glass before heading to the Needle. When David asked the stranger who held his phone to start a video, Mackenzie finally realized what was happening. David proposed on the deck of the Space Needle in the perfect end to 2020. However, the ring was not the last surprise of the night. After departing the Space Needle, Kenzie thought it was time to go home. David instead led them across Belltown via the monorail and on foot as dusk settled on the city. Stopping at Pike Place Market for some goodies on the way, David brought Mackenzie to an AirBnB on the waterfront. With David having packed overnight bags in secret, Kenzie’s mom and sister had arrived earlier to set up with flowers and champagne. David and Mackenzie celebrated their engagement as the year came to a close.
