David and Kenzie met in English class during their first year of high school. They didn't talk much, but their friends knew each other. Their corner of the English classroom quickly became the problem corner. (Fun fact: Kenzie actually had a short crush on David during this time). They didn't get very close until sophomore year, when their friend groups really collided. They would talk occasionally during lunch but only when their other friends were with them. It wasn't until after Covid hit that they got really close. As David remembers it, they bonded over a mutual love for George Lopez, when he randomly sent Kenzie a George Lopez meme during lockdown. That's not how Kenzie remembers it. Kenzie remembers sending her daily Snapchat streaks and David responding with a George Lopez meme and Kenzie was a little weirded out by it. From that moment on, David and Kenzie talked every single day. At first it was just David responding to Kenzie's streaks, asking how her day was. But soon, they were sending each other good morning texts and talking throughout the day. One day during the summer, David sent Kenzie a love song, Tuesdays by Jake Scott, explaining how he found this artist and thought Kenzie would like his music as well. At the time, Jake Scott was releasing music once a month. All of them were love songs. David sent Kenzie Every. Single. One. These songs quickly became Kenzie's favorite, but each time she'd hear them, she'd think of David. One song was called "Maybe" which is about two people caught up in the talking stage: "Yeah, I know you and I got a really good thing goin. And I don't want to lose you, I'm scared to rock the boat, so I'll just keep playin' pretend Like we don't know what this is 'Cause we both know what this is..." This song sent Kenzie into a spiral. It explained exactly how she felt and she had no idea if David felt it too, and if that's why he sent it. However, she didn't let on, and the two continued to be close friends until one day in August. Kenzie was sitting on her bed in the middle of her room surrounded by all her furniture, as she was painting her room. She and David were in the middle of having a very serious conversation. The topic: they both really really really liked each other. But they were both still in school and Kenzie was very very very serious about school. They ultimately decided that they were going to wait until after they graduated. They continued to talk throughout that weird online school part of junior year. Texting during class, playing Among Us, and talking about their days. Then on January 10, 2021 David finally asked Kenzie out because they couldn't wait any longer. The rest is history. David and Kenzie began dating and growing together. They had their fights, their arguments, and at one point had to separate and do some growing on their own. Eventually, they came back together, ready to put faith and each other first. They promised to trust God's plan for them, and to never lie, never hide, and never run from each other.
