Our love story began thanks to the love story of another couple, Megan and John (Mackenzie's sister and brother-in-law). Danyer helped Mackenzie and her parents set up for Megan and John's wedding at La Guarida in Havana, Cuba. Fast forward a couple years and here we are...
As most are aware, we have been on the rollercoaster of our lives this past year. Not only did covid separate us for 279 days, but it delayed the processing of Danyer's fiance visa by nearly a full year. Now that Danyer is finally in the US, we have to marry within 90 days. We decided that the perfect way to reflect on our journey and begin our future together was to escape into the mountains with our closest family and friends. While this ceremony is more intimate, we are planning on renewing our vows in Havana once Danyer receives his green card. We are beyond excited to celebrate our marriage in Havana with both sides of our family and friends. Niños will be more than welcome at the vow renewal, but we are keeping the elopement a kid-free zone.
When making a list of options for a destination elopement inside the US, mountains were at the top of the list. Mackenzie grew up in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains surrounded by evergreens, state parks, and "neighborhood" bears. We decided on a place neither of us has explored as a fun way to begin our adventure together.
