MacKenzie and Corey were thrilled to find the Warm Springs pickleball court under development when they visited the venue this summer. It brought back memories of Corey's first (and last) pick-up line that started their journey together: "I'd work you at pickleball!" The spirit of competition and playfulness is equally strong in their relationship today as it was at 16 years old. The University of Washington holds a special place in their hearts as it gave them space to grow, as well as, an opportunity to experience new things together. A block away at Alpha Phi, Mac would frequently visit the smelly, sweat-ridden room of the Upstairs-Downstairs apartments that housed Corey and his hockey teammates. Despite the empty bottles, year-round Christmas lights, and general filth, this hub brought lifelong friends together and deserves a mention in their love story. Mac and Corey discovered their shared passion for travel during a month abroad to celebrate the completion of their undergraduate studies. It was the little moments they cherished most on this trip; sipping coffee and playing cards at cafes, getting lost on bikes, and wandering the cities with no timeline. This trip truly solidified their partnership and desire to take many more adventures in the future. West Seattle holds the title of "first home" where Mac and Corey took on grad school and their careers as a team. Corey kept Mac sane and fed during long internship weeks and late study nights. This special place inspired Corey to pop the question on the shores of Alki beach with a Seattle skyline backdrop in the distance. What a night! In September of 2018, Mac and Corey bought a home in Issaquah. The surrounding mountains have been a gift, especially during the past year of the pandemic. The couple has fallen in love with the trails and parks captured in their engagement shots. They look forward to sharing their home with family and friends for many years to come.
