We met initially on the swim team at our high school, Stivers School for the Arts in 2010. During this time, we also were partners in our Honor Geometry Class. With her best friend in high school, Veronica, Mackenzie would write and draw funny notes to Bram to give them to him in the hallway between classes. Eventually this led to a crush and we would write notes to just each other. Mackenzie still has most of these notes still. The next school year, Bram asked Mackenzie to the homecoming dance by putting an origami flower note in her locker. About a week after Homecoming, Bram asked Mackenzie to be his girlfriend on another paper note and clearly, she said yes.
Bram and I decided to elope to keep things simple and make sure that the day was completely about our love for each other. We drove down to Louisville and spent a night relaxing. The next morning, we woke up, got breakfast together, got ready and headed to City Hall. We got our marriage license and then had our tiny ceremony at the Justice of the Peace. The judge said we were the “best dressed” bride and groom she has ever had. We then spent the rest of the day celebrating our new bond to one another and the adventure that is just beginning! Nothing Fancy, Just Love.
