Despite attending the same school for middle and high school, it wasn't until the summer before our senior year that we actually held a full conversation. Mackenzie must've said something really intriguing in that conversation, because Austin spent the next 10 months crushing while Mackenzie played hard to get. During that time, we went to our Senior Homecoming together as "friends", shared our first kiss on NYE 2015 to the amusement of all of our friends and Mackenzie's brother, and got selected as Mr. and Miss Rossview High School by our classmates... oh the foreshadowing. After Senior Prom, we finally started dating "officially" with the realistic expectation that we were attending colleges 3 hours apart. Mackenzie's parents graciously offered to have Austin join us on a family cruise which really sealed the deal of our relationship. The rest is pretty much history... 5 years of long distance later, we are extremely grateful for the personal growth that long distance afforded us, but we are ready to settle down together and start this next great chapter.
1. The side diamonds on Mackenzie's ring are from a diamond bracelet that belonged to Austin's 'Granny'. Granny is actually the one who helped Austin pay for his ticket on the cruise that started it all. While Granny is no longer with us, we are so thankful for the role she played in our love story. 2. Mackenzie also has a brother named Austin, leading to quite the confusion at family dinners. Mackenzie's family has come to call Austin Davis by the nickname of "AD", while the Austins are typically able to distinguish who Mackenzie is talking to by the inflection in her voice... call it sisterly love haha 3. Two days before Austin proposed, Mackenzie had an unfortunate furniture moving accident that basically ripped off her entire LEFT RING FINGERNAIL. You could definitely see the panic in Austin's eyes once he realized what had happened, especially since he was on the other end of the couch that was being moved. He didn't let that stop him though, therefore in all of the photos, Mackenzie's nail is black and bruised. Thankfully Grace (MOH) exercised some pretty awesome photoshop skills and hid it in most of the photos. What are friends for?! 4. Austin proposed in an area of his backyard lovingly referred to as "Serenity Gardens". So, when we found out that our venue had a ceremony space also called "Serenity Gardens", it was an obvious choice. Meet you all there, June 19, 2021!!
