We met in medical school during the orientation week on a boat cruise around New York City. While initially it was a friendship, after several long nights of studying, walks around the city, and more days of studying together, we became a couple. Flash forward, after trips around the world to Hong Kong, Portugal and Peru, we have landed in Durham, North Carolina as we prepare for the big day in California!

After three years of long distance, we were preparing to move to Durham to finally reunite! Several weeks before the move, we were in Miami with several members of our family celebrating our completion of residency. In a private moment at Liz's apartment, Alejandro got down on one knee and popped the question! Happiness and tears followed, after which we had champagne and oysters at the site of one of our very first dates in Miami.
