How We Met

Drunk in love... or maybe just drunk?

Once upon a Friday night in October 2016.... Steph had 2 of her closest girlfriends, Crista & Yuki, flying in for the weekend, so she planned to leave work early & prepare for their arrival. Instead, she stayed at work for drinks with Jenna, who introduced her to Steve (aka Jenna’s desk neighbor & the Sales Rep she supported). Two hours later, the girls left for a glass of wine and Steve went on his way with a group of coworkers. Later that night, Steve and Steph bumped into each other when returning to the office for their belongings. On their way to the subway stop at the Commons, Steph invited Steve on the rest of her errands to finish preparing for her friends. Call it chivalry or maybe shooters just shoot - but Steve gladly accompanied her from Downtown to Cambridge to South Boston before finally returning to his apartment in the South End. It was in the taxi on their way to drop Steph off that they shared what would eventually be their last first kiss.

The Proposal

He liked it so much, he put a ring on it!

Two years ago, Steve & Steph purchased a home on Merrymeeting Lake because they were excited to start a new chapter in their lives. They’ve absolutely loved living there, splitting time between New Hampshire & Boston, and having their own little getaway from the city. The lakehouse became a huge part of their lives after they ditched their apartment and moved to the lake full time. Ultimately spending the majority of 2020 on the lake with their boys, Winston & Reginald - watching the seasons change, and learning all about the delights and surprises of being homeowners. Stephanie loves being a hostess, including curating a theme, decorating accordingly and having a good time. On New Year’s Eve 2020, she planned a Glam-Jama party for themselves and their closest friends Jenna and Ben. Taking advantage of Stephanie’s complete commitment to a theme, Steve conspired with Jenna and Ben to plan a proposal within the weekend. About mid day, Stephanie and Jenna took Winston & Reggie for a walk as a strategic plan to tire them out for the day. On the way back, Stephanie notices Steve on their beach walking back and forth. Immediately she realizes he is preparing to jump out and scare them on their way back as a prank. As the two of them approach the area Steve is pacing, he begins walking toward Stephanie and it’s clear there is no prank. He reaches out for her hand and asks “Can I pull you for a chat?”, then guides her down the beach. They stand looking out across the lake that has become so much more than their home, when Steve reaches in his pocket as he tells Stephanie how much he loves her - he simultaneously opens the ring box and says “Stephanie Marie Peters…. Will you marry me?” And in a decibel not many can even hear, Stephanie shrieks “Holy $*!#, YES!”
