Jon and Diana first met as Engineers at Kiewit Offshore Services in Ingleside, Texas. After mindless passes through the halls of their office trailer, Diana was assigned to her first safety walk in the KOS Structural Assembly Building. Being new and out of place, Jon took it upon himself to show Diana the ropes (literally... he showed her how to check if rigging had been inspected) and she was instantly impressed with his knowledge and attention to detail. Not too long after, while subconsciously avoiding a workplace romance, they found each other on social media. It was then that they realized Diana's apartment overlooked Jon's backyard, so he really had nowhere to hide anymore. After a few days of Jon making funny faces at Diana during 'Stretch 'N Flex,' they were inseparable.
Just a few short weeks later, Jon and Diana got the news that Hurricane Harvey was on it's way. Despite it looking as if the community would ride out the storm, it quickly worsened overnight. They had to make the hasty decision to evacuate with their three dogs, Mako, Duke, and Sissy to Jon's hometown of La Grange, expecting to be able to head back home and get back to work in no time. Unfortunately, the storm ravaged their little coastal town and they came back to some hard times once power was restored, debris was cleared, and flood waters receded. Diana's apartment had been damaged, so she grabbed her finest fishing shirts, her dependable coffee maker, and Mako's favorite Hedgie. The pair headed to Jon's house, where he took them in without a second thought.
Around the time that Jon and Diana met, Jon and his father planned a hunting trip to the South Island of New Zealand. Neither Jon's mom nor Diana were ones to be left behind, so they invited themselves along. After a cancelled flight and a very long night on the floor of LAX, the group finally landed in Auckland, where the boys continued on their way to Christchurch and the girls made their nerve-wracking but successful attempt to drive on the left-hand side of the road. After an amazing week of hunting (the boys for bull tahr, the girls for good shoes and jewelry), the family met up for their last night in New Zealand. Diana decided she wanted wine, so despite the rain, Jon leapt into action (which he probably very easily predicted beforehand) and got the two of them onto a ferry headed to Waiheke Island. A lovely woman named Honey was at the port waiting for the couple with a map of all of the boutique wineries and nervously pointed out which ones they would be visiting. After a full afternoon of wine tasting, art viewing, and one random oyster shot, the weather finally cleared and Honey brought the couple to their last stop of the tour, Cable Bay Vineyards. While preparing for the tastings, the couple was led down to the wine library in the cellar. It was there that Jonathan got down on one knee and asked Diana to spend the rest of her life with him.
