The Beginning

8 | 25 | 2017

Bubba and Macie met before their senior year of high school at the FFA state leadership conference. Macie developed a small crush on Bubba, but he had no clue she existed. The two remained aquaintances, but that was the extent of their relationship until the beginning of their sophomore year at Texas A&M University. Mutual friends brought the two together during "Gig 'em Week" and they have not spent a day apart since.

Her side of the proposal

August 31, 2019

"Lyndi and Sarah, my roommates, and I received a text from our friend, Lindsey, asking us to go to Waco with her. She asked us to shoot new outfits for her boutique and bring the boys for couples photos for her photography portfolio. Being the good friends we are, we told her we would be there, to my surprise it did not take much convincing to get Bubba to agree. Saturday, Lindsey gave us our first outfit, we got dressed and headed to Waco. We took pictures downtown and then it was time for an outfit change. Lindsey was assigning dresses and pulled out a dress I had my eyes on for quite some time. I asked if I could wear that one and she said, 'of course.' We made the outfit changes and then drove around downtown for what felt like 45 minutes. I now know that is because the lighting was not right to capture the special moment. I was suspicious because usually if Bubba wasted gas for 45 minutes driving around he would be upset, but he was calm, cool and collected. When the lighting was right we parked and walked down to the suspension bridge. Lyndi and Colton took their pictures, then Evan and Sarah, then it was mine and Bubba's turn. Lindsey posed us, posed us again and again and kept posing us until Bubba worked up the nerve. She asked us to start dancing and him to twirl me. On one particular twirl, Bubba looked me dead in the eye, knelt down and asked me the best question ever. After a loud, excited, 'YES', we took several more pictures and then went to eat. Bubba surprised me again by having both of our families drive down to Waco to share a celebratory meal together. The day was a dream and more than I could have ever imagined."

His side of the proposal

August 31, 2019

“Starting in late February I began working with the jeweler to design Macie's dream ring. By the end of March, I had a design ready to be made. This is when the real planning started. Planning a surprise for Macie is one of the hardest things I have had to do. Knowing that she would suspect something if I asked to do anything out of the ordinary, I knew I needed help. Luckily a friend of ours, Lindsey, owns a boutique and a photography business, making the perfect cover. I brought Macie’s roommates, Sarah and Lyndi, into the loop and I had the perfect team for the surprise. Lindsey texted the girls and asked them to model clothes for her boutique and invited us, the guys, for some couples pictures for her businesses. Lyndi and Sarah found the perfect dress that Macie had been looking at, and the plan was a go. After taking a few pictures in downtown Waco the girls needed to make an outfit change for our next stop. Little did Macie know this would be 'the spot'. After finding a parking spot Macie quickly hopped out of the car and I waited for her to step away from the truck, as she did I said my shoe was untied and I slipped the ring box into the top of my sock. The ring box was so large that I was panicking as we walked down the street to the bridge, it would fall out. As we arrived at the suspension bridge Colton and Lyndi took their pictures, then Sarah and Evan, and finally it was time. I let Lindsey put us into place and then waited for the perfect time. Honestly, I hadn’t been nervous all day, but I will admit as we stood on the bridge with the ring I was doing my best not to shake. After spinning Macie around I looked her in the eye and knew it was time to pop the question. Luckily she said yes and I was ecstatic. Little did she know the surprises didn’t end there. I had also planned a celebratory dinner. When we arrived at the restaurant both of our families were there. It was the perfect ending to the perfect surprise."
