Andrew and Macey met in high school while he was a junior and she was a freshman. After sharing a choir class and study hall together, they became friends. Honestly, neither one expected anything to come out of their friendship. So, for a year, they talked and got to know each other. Andrew told Macey about his interests in hunting, fishing and general enjoyment of the outdoors. He hunted during deer season and liked to scope out good spots to cast his line. Meanwhile, Macey could not think of one good reason as to how someone could find sitting by a body of water with a pole enjoyable. She would rather have read a book, gone driving with friends, or even just have stayed in and watch a movie. Basically, they could not have been more opposites. In the fall of 2014, October 21st to be exact, they had progressed their relationship and finally made things official. In the years to follow, they experienced a lot of firsts together. In 2017, Macey moved to Omaha to pursue her bachelors degree and Andrew spent lots of weekends with her. They tried new restaurants, explored new places, and of course did plenty of fishing in the summer. Fast forward to August 2021. On a vacation to Lake Okoboji, Andrew and Macey’s friends went out to eat with them before heading to a boat dock. On this dock, Andrew took Macey’s hand, got down on one knee, and asked her to marry him. Easiest yes ever. Now on September 10th, 2022, they get to celebrate with all their friends and family on the happiest day of their lives. And Macey will probably still think fishing is boring.
