After getting invited to go to TKE Mountain Weekend in November of her sophomore year, Lexie was nervous because she didn't know anyone except for her date. Arriving in Gatlinburg late at night after driving all afternoon all she wanted to do was go to sleep. She made small talk with some people and even played a game of beer pong with the fraternity president himself, Mac Thompson. But after leaving the outdoor hot tub she was in desperate need of a towel to dry off. Lexie called a pledge to go grab the nearest towel. When she walked in and Mac walked up to her and asked where she got the towel. After explaining that someone else got her the towel, she found out that she took Mac's towel. Not thinking it was a big deal, she went outside to grab a jacket from her date's car and came back in the house to see Mac and her date... arguing about the towel. It was apparently the only towel in his room and he was so mad he wanted to fight with her date. Lexie stepped in the middle and told him that she would dry the towel on a rocking chair and by the morning it would be dry. When that wasn't good enough she said, "Well I used the towel so if you want to fight anyone fight me." To which Mac Thompson said, "Well fight me Lexie." No one fought, but more chaos ensued throughout the night and soon everyone went to bed. The next morning at breakfast, Mac pulled her aside to talk. He apologized left and right for the towel incident and Lexie forgave him. The rest of the weekend, they hung out watching football and playing games of beer pong. Clemson went on winter break and they didn't talk or see each other for months. Until one day the TKE boys threw a darty at The Pier. After that, the rest is history. They've gone through long distance, broken thumbs, many Clemson football games, graduations, Covid, moving in together, and getting their dog, Bruni, to name a few. And all thanks to a towel.
