One of our favorite places to take a walk. Paved, flat walking trail on Red Mountain that overlooks the city. See the beautiful texture of kudzu-covered landscapes up close. Combine with a trip to the top of Vulcan if you like. You can park in the lot underneath the statue, but our favorite thing to do is to park on Green Springs Avenue and walk east towards Vulcan.
A Chris Nau favorite destination. Marvel at the giant old iron furnaces that once fueled the economy of Birmingham (and why Birmingham is called The Magic City!)
This is our version of Central Park. It's beautiful and there's great people watching. It's also across the street from good coffee, doughnuts, and a brewery! https://bhamnow.com/2020/06/14/11-ways-to-enjoy-a-beautiful-day-at-railroad-park/
An infamous park with lots of Civil Rights era history and statues. This is a great spot to visit.
Great neighborhood staple. We love the BBQ burrito and the blackened tilapia plate.
Don't bother going here unless you need some ribs! We will be having better BBQ at the wedding. (But the ribs here are delicious.)
Cocktails and food. Get the corndog, seriously. Trust us.
Delicious pasta.
In case you're looking for some fine dining.
Walk south from this area and see the sights--Southside is magical and is just fun to walk through! We have spent countless hours walking our dog from Andrea's old apartment in this area.
Amazing soul food and Greek food. Andrea loves the fried catfish, meatloaf and souvlaki.
The diviest dive bar. They call themselves Birmingham's Dirtiest Little Secret.
Cool mid-century modern-themed bar. Gets very crowded at night, so it's best to go earlier in the evening if you're not into crowds.
We call their raspberry berlier-weiss "delicious beer."
We try to go hiking here once a week. It's a wonderful place to experience the magic of Alabama's woods.
