Ceremony and reception locations

Answer

Both are at the Japanese Friendship Garden and Museum in Balboa Park in San Diego: 2215 Pan American E Rd, San Diego, CA 92101

Parking

Answer

We have very limited parking reserved for our older guests. Balboa Park has a few parking lots that charge hourly/daily: Non-resident fees range from $10–$16 for full-day parking, while verified San Diego residents pay $5–$8 on level 1 parking lots. Level 2 and 3 parking lots are free to verified residents. Street meters ($2.50/hr) are enforced daily.

Transportation

We strongly encourage using taxis/Ubers/Lyfts so you can have a long fun evening with us! There will not be a designated shuttle to the garden.

RSVP deadline is September 5th, 2026 You can RSVP directly from our website on the "RSVP" tab, or return your mailed in RSVP back to us.

Cellphones at ceremony

We don't want you to be away from your devices, but we don't want anyone blocking the aisle or a clear view from our photographer and videographer either. Please keep all devices on silent (vibrate is not silent) and enjoy the moment!

The garden is designed as a calm, serene environment and a living work of art, and therefore does not offer public WiFi.

Indoors or outdoors

Weather permitting, our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception will be outdoors. Dinner will be served inside the pavilion.

Dress code

Our dress code is formal. Please come at your best! Ladies, please refrain from wearing white. Gentlemen, please refrain from wearing white dinner jackets.

Bridesmaids and groomsmen colors

In case you don’t want to blend in with the bridal party, bridesmaids are wearing cognac brown, and groomsmen will be in black tuxedos.

Weather

Answer

October weather in San Diego should be lovely! We're hoping for warm temperatures during the day, and a cooler evening as the sun goes down. For ladies wearing sleeveless dresses, a light cardigan or jacket might be wise to bring. We will have heaters set up outside around the dance floor and cocktail tables, but as long as you're groovin' you'll be warm!

Smoking

Smoking and vaping is banned inside the garden. If you need to step away for a nicotine hit you can vape outside of the gate. If you smoke cigarettes you'll need to go by the parking area and dispose of the ashes and cigarette butts.

We have everything we need at home and don't have room for anything else! If you'd like to contribute to our honeymoon/newlywed fund we've set up a link on the "Registry" tab that will go into our joint account.

Nope! We will be enjoying the day after the wedding just the two of us. And maybe Pepper 😉

Calls/texts on our wedding day

Answer

We will not be answering our phones. Unless you can reach the Maid of Honor or Best Man and they deem it reasonable, we'll be unavailable until cocktail hour.
