At the old, old age of 10, John started at North Branch School, where he was paired with Lyraya for "book buddies." Together, they read to a younger student once a week. Who would have possibly guessed that this was the beginning of a life together? There was a year of holding hands at recess, writing notes, and John playing his favorite oldies for Lyraya. But, when Lyraya was in 8th grade and John in 7th, Lyraya broke it off for the big, new world of high school. Still not far apart, they ran into each other on and off over the years, through high school and college, travels, and first jobs. Twelve years down the road, they both fatefully found themselves back in Nelson County at the same time, and John asked Lyraya on their second first date. After eight shared years, John surprised Lyraya while bird-watching. A small sign, only visible through the binoculars, placed far down the riverbank - WILL YOU MARRY ME? We're grateful and excited to be celebrating a lifetime of holding hands and making more memories!!
