We met freshman year of high school. For anyone who knew our older siblings, there may have already been a quiet prediction floating around that we’d end up together one day… but we didn’t know that at the time, and we definitely wouldn’t have believed it. Instead, we became best friends. Through high school and into college, we stayed consistently in each other’s lives—visiting each other at school, attending prom and then formals, matching Halloween costumes, spending time with each other’s friends and families, and always making each other feel included. No matter what phase of life we were in, that connection never changed. Years later, after a nudge from Mel around Thanksgiving, we decided to give dating a chance. What started as a friendship had already built everything we needed. From there, our lives naturally came together—weekends turned into living together, a house became a home, and Winston became “our” dog (still debated who he loves more). Along the way, we’ve supported each other through big life changes, built careers, and opened our home to many foster dogs. Today, our relationship is still rooted in the same thing it always was: friendship, consistency, and showing up for each other.
