It all began in a history class at Florida A&M University. Denise stopped in the threshold of the door and looked for a seat. Lynwood looked up and saw her — and in that very moment, he said to himself, "My God. That's a beautiful young lady — I'm going to take her home to meet my Mama and I'm going to marry her." But love took its time. He tried to talk to her once, when she sat beside him, but it didn't go quite as he'd planned. For a while their paths drifted — she went her way, he went his — and then, for a time, she went missing from his world altogether. Then came the fall. School had just started back, students were reuniting after the long summer, and when the campus party wound down near midnight, the crowd drifted to the Omega block party just off campus. And there — lo and behold — Lynwood ran into the young lady he'd never forgotten: the one he affectionately called Miss Jackson. They talked, they caught up, and they shared their first true encounter on the dance floor. Before the night was over, they exchanged addresses. As Lynwood likes to say, he found his thrill on FAMU's Hill. A couple of weeks later, he knocked on her door to pay a visit — and from that day forward, the two were inseparable. Dinners together, walks from class, long talks about their families and their dreams. They became the best of friends… though, looking back, Denise says it always felt like something more, even when no words were spoken. They can't say exactly when they started dating, or the day they became a couple — they only know they were friends before they were lovers, and that somewhere along the way, they simply belonged to each other. For six years their love grew, until 1986, when Lynwood and Denise said "I do" — and they've been saying it every day since. Their marriage has always been built on faith — on the promise that where two or more touch and agree on anything, it shall come to pass. By that faith, they received their children, their home, and their provision. They have walked closely through the valley of the shadow of death, looking each other in the eyes day after day as if nothing were wrong — and holding on. Today, they work side by side in their own company, caring for developmentally disabled individuals, turning their love into a blessing for others. Together they raised three children — Jasmine, Angel, and Matthew, lovingly known as the JAM gang — and have been blessed with six grandchildren. Through every season of life, they have held fast to one another, showing their children what a love rooted in faith truly looks like. As their son Matthew often says, they have lived out every word of their vows — for better, for worse, in sickness and in health. Angel says, with tears in her eyes, that Babe and Big D are a shining example of marriage that taught her how to love her own husband. And it was Jasmine who introduced the family to "Still" by Tamia — a song she says speaks to every area of their life together, a solid foundation beneath their marriage and a fitting tribute to a love that has never wavered. And through it all, they have never stopped dancing. From that very first encounter on the dance floor to this day, dancing remains their favorite thing to do — together and with their family. He is her Healthy Man. She is his Sweetheart. And after forty years, that same certainty Lynwood felt on the very first day still shines just as bright. Join us in Lake Mary, FL as we celebrate four decades of love, faith, and devotion — the love we'll honor once more as "Inseparable" fills the room. With all our love, Mr. & Mrs. Lynwood DeBrew
