Mere steps from our wedding venue, Market Square plays host to outdoor dining and music during the summer. Take photos at PPG Plaza, in front of the iconic mirrored glass skyscraper. Then stroll the cobblestone square and grab lunch at one of the many fantastic restaurants, where you can enjoy the historic Original Oyster House's famous fried fish, Pizzaiolo Primo's mouth-watering pizzas, and an expansive draft list at City Works!
... and speaking of Market Square, be sure to save room for a stop at Primanti Bros - no trip to Pittsburgh is truly complete without this beloved local joint's Almost Famous sammie. Our absolute favorites include the pastrami, corned beef, salami, and colossal fish. Add an egg if you're feeling adventurous, and wash it down with an Iron City Beer!
A 15 minute walk from Market Square will take you to Pittsburgh's iconic Point State Park, where the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers merge to form the mighty Ohio. Bask in the sun across the wide lawn, relax at the fountain near water's edge, and watch the boats from one of the city's most charming destinations.
Less than a block from the hotel, La Gourmandine has been treating Yinzers to a little taste of France since 2010! The downtown location features an espresso bar alongside their favorite culinary creations. Swing by for a Parisian breakfast that will have you going back for an assorted box to take home! We recommend the tart aux framboises, choco amandes, or abricotine, but you truly can't go wrong with any treat offered at this local gem!
The one-half square mile shopping district is chock full of ethnic grocers, produce stands, meat and fish markets and sidewalk vendors. Our favorite stops include Penn Mac, Wholey's, S&D Polish Deli, and Grandpa Joe's Candy Shop. Grab a pepperoni roll from Jimmy & Nino's, tacos and tamales from Reyna's, and a pick-me-up from Allegheny Coffee & Tea Exchange. Every Pittsburgher has their own favorite diner in the Strip, so join team DeLuca's or team Pamela's for the perfect remedy for a late night bender!
Pittsburgh is renowned for its spectacular cityscape views, and there are no better places to experience them from than the upper stations of The Mon Incline and its sibling The Duquesne Incline, which is located a bit less than a mile west, up the aptly named Grandview Avenue.
Home to the stunning Cathedral of Learning on the University of Pittsburgh campus, Oakland boasts an abundance of cultural highlights. We recommend checking out the Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History, Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, and Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum. Grab a bite to eat at some of Pittsburgh's best Asian restaurants, and take in a little sun on the lawn at Schenley Plaza.
