HOW THEY MET

May 2018

After they both decided to try their luck with online dating, Lyndsi and David were matched with a compatibility percentage of 97%. Lyndsi's dating profile had the lyrics from the 90's hit "No Scrubs" in the headline: "I don't want no scrub, a scrub is a guy that can't get no love from me". In case you're unaware, a scrub is a guy who think's he's fly (and is also known as a "busta"). He's always thinking about what he wants but sits on his broke *ahem* behind. At the time, David was working as a pharmacy technician and messaged Lyndsi, saying, "I'm not a scrub, but I wear scrubs. Is that okay?" Lyndsi thought it was clever and responded in kind, asking if David ever hit on women in the hospital using puns related to their medical conditions. Something along the lines of "I'm going to need to get a hit of your oxygen tank, because sweetheart, you just took my breath away." After days of texting punny medical-related pick-up lines back and forth, David FINALLY asked her out on a coffee date.

THE FIRST DATE

May 12, 2018

Lyndsi and David had their first date on a Saturday morning at Starbucks. What was meant to be a quick chat soon turned into a literal 3 hour tour of their likes, dislikes, jobs, families... (you get the picture). Towards the end of their date, Lyndsi's father, unaware that Lyndsi was on a date, called her. Lyndsi answered, and during the phone call her father said, "You sound really happy." He was right. Lyndsi was really happy.

THE 30 DAY FREE TRIAL

May 31, 2018

Four days after their first date, David interviewed for and was offered a job in Dallas. David and Lyndsi decided to see each other as much as possible during the three weeks that they both still lived in Tyler. They were both very unsure about the idea of a long-distance relationship, but they weren't ready to write off the connection that they'd built so quickly. To ease their worry about the long-distance aspect of the relationship, Lyndsi and David agreed to a "30 Day Free Trial" of dating on May 31st. If either of them wanted to cancel the trial after the 30 days, there would be no hard feelings. Thankfully, they both decided to renew their subscriptions.

THE PROPOSAL

May 31, 2019

David and Lyndsi decided to celebrate the one year anniversary of the 30 Day Free Trial at a bed & breakfast owned by The Pioneer Woman in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. (Lyndsi is mildly obsessed with the Pioneer Woman's kitchen accessories.) Lyndsi had asked David for a love letter as her anniversary present, and David certainly did not disappoint. The couple had already begun seriously discussing marriage after Lyndsi moved to the Dallas area in April to be closer to her beau. Lyndsi told David that she would prefer to have the first ring she wore to be her wedding ring. Instead of the traditional engagement ring, she said that she would rather have a charm for her charm bracelet. David found the perfect charm and had it added to Lyndsi's bracelet before they left for Pawhuska. He had a bit more planned in addition to the love letter that he promised for their anniversary. During their trip to the Mercantile (the Pioneer Woman's gift shop) the night before their anniversary, David found the perfect card to use for his love letter. It had a tree trunk on the front with the words "You + Me" carved in it. He wrote a beautiful love letter in it that night and signed it "Your Fiance, David". The next morning, Lyndsi and David exchanged their gifts. Lyndsi opened the letter and read it aloud. She was crying happy tears by the end of the first sentence. By the time she read "Your Fiance, David" (which she could barely say through the shock and tears), David was down on one knee with the charm bracelet. The charm he had added to her bracelet was a heart made of two pieces of silver that had "Forever" and "Always" engraved on the sides of the heart. David showed Lyndsi the charm and asked, "Would you spend forever and always with me?"
