Some claim that Cupid shot an arrow on Valentine's Day of 2015... We quickly spent our days together and fell in love more and more as the days passed. We shared the responsibility of raising a wonderful, playful pup Rambo, as well as integrating two cats into the mix. We spent summers traveling, Kayaking, and enjoying a lakeside view. Winters we grew closer over cozy fires, winter wonderland walks, and catching snowflakes on our tongues. Our relationship flourished and we had so much fun along the way! In 2019 we found a place to call our home. Through the wacky year of 2020 we built a home together and really tested out our skills for a lifelong relationship. We created a comfy nest by stripping wallpaper, repainting the entire home, and building our patios with over 20 tons of stone, now that's a heavy love! Our charming home in Sylvania has provided another level of excitement, connection and love we never knew we were missing.
We always dreamed of exploring Traverse City in the snow, and we could not have picked a better time. Being a favorite holiday we headed to Traverse for a romantic weekend over our six year anniversary. Ben had always mentioned his siblings were both engaged after seven years and I knew it would be worth the wait anyhow. We each knew we would be together for a lifetime. Our trip was a perfect snowy getaway. We explored the gorgeous, water side city. On our second day we rented snow shoes from The Village at Grand Traverse Commons and headed to the Reffitt Nature Preserve. This charming loop surrounded a lake and was encased in a pine forest. Everything was like a Bob Ross painting and we were in awe. We daydreamed out loud together of our love for this place and all of its beauty. Upon the third mile my snowshoes needed adjusting and I sat on a stump to rest. Benjamin being a gentleman stopped to help and without pause in conversation continued "In order to retire here, we would have to spend the rest of our lives together" as I looked up, I looked into heaven. Ben proposed and with the breath out of my lungs I was love struck. Tears in our eyes we knew the answer was "Yes!" We celebrated in the softly falling snow. Our hearts never so full of love and happiness. In the following days we soaked in the power of such a strong loving connection and enjoyed every moment. Our hearts overfilled with joy. The rainbow on my finger will always be a reminder of the heaven on earth we get to experience in each other. We are overjoyed to spend the rest of our lives together, and couldn't be happier to share our love with the people we love the most.
