We met in Calculus III (romantic, we know). Somewhere between partial derivatives and triple integrals, Hunter worked up the courage to ask for my number after class. We started talking, and before long, he kept asking me to hang out. One day, I finally said yes. We decided to “study” together at the library. Not much calculus was accomplished; we mostly talked, laughed, and realized how easy it felt to be around each other. Afterward, we walked to Subway, where Hunter offered me a jalapeño from his sandwich (oddly charming… and very on brand). It was such a small moment, but somehow it felt like the beginning of something big. The night ended there, but neither of us wanted it to. We both knew we’d see each other again. I went home from that very first date and told my cousin Mattie, “I’m going to marry him.” And here we are. 🤍
