Ancient Spanish Monastery

We’re so excited to say “I do” at a unique, historic location and the oldest building in the Western Hemisphere. Originally built in 1133 AD in Sacramenia, Spain, this monastery—once known as the Monastery of Our Lady Queen of the Angels—was home to Cistercian monks for nearly 700 years. In the 1920s, newspaper tycoon William Randolph Hearst purchased the monastery, carefully dismantled it stone by stone (all 135,000 of them!), and shipped it to the United States. The reassembly in Miami was described by Time magazine as “the biggest jigsaw puzzle in history.” Today, the Ancient Spanish Monastery is a stunning blend of medieval architecture, timeless romance, and rich history—making it the perfect backdrop for the next chapter in our love story.
