Downtown Buena Vista
Enjoy local shops and restaurants in this charming mountain town. Here's a few places we enjoy: The Terrace on Main: adorable, amazing views, amazing food, breakfast, lunch, dinner Crave: yummy pizza Simple Eatery: sit-down restaurant with an outdoor gear store inside as well The Buena Viking: burgers Louie's Ice Cream Shop: ice cream K's Dairy Delite: good ole soft serve Stedman's Sodas, Sweets, and Treats: specialty sodas and fudge that make great souvenirs Biggies: sub sandwiches The Buena Vista Roastery: coffee Dragon Sushi Bar: good sushi! Pickle ball & tennis courts: public courts, free to use, on the far East side of town next to the river
Pickleball Courts, Soccer, and Sand Volleyball
Pristine pickleball courts right next to Main St! Soccer and Sand Volleyball courts are next door too. They are all free to use if they're available, otherwise you can pay to make a reservation.
Bridge to Bridge Trail
A sweet little hike that goes between South Main and sports fields area. You'll walk along the river both ways for a 30-45 minute loop (sometimes you can watch people surfing in the river!). Click the link and click 'BV River Park Trail Map' on the website for the full map.
Charlotte Hot Springs & Botanical Gardens
Newly built hot springs within 15 minutes of downtown BV! Lydia visited in July and it's already one of her new favorite activities to do in town. It is peaceful, clean, and even has an indoor botanical garden with parrots!
Mount Princeton Hot Springs
Relax in natural hot springs at Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort! It's bigger than the Charlotte Hot Springs, but farther and a bit more expensive.
Cottonwood Lake
Some of the best views you can drive to within 20 minutes of Buena Vista. FYI there is about 15 mins of dirt road that is a bit bumpy to get to the lake. The lake is too cold for swimming, but great for paddle boarding. You can bring your own watercraft or rent from somewhere in town. Its also the perfect place just to have a picnic by the water! There's a campground on the lake too.
Climbing at Turtle Rock
The perfect place to do some rock climbing! Turtle Rocks includes many different types of climbing with several routes installed. However, make sure to bring all your own climbing equipment.
TerraForm Sauna
Enjoy a sauna and cold plunge right on Main Street!
BV eBikes
What better way to get around town and see as much as possible than with an eBike!
Hiking - Collegiate Peaks
There are plenty of trails nearby, including the popular Collegiate Peaks. **Please note: The town of Buena Vista is at 8,000 ft above sea level.** Please drink plenty of water and give yourself time to adjust to the elevation before any additional exertion.
Leadville
For a scenic drive or a day trip, we recommend a visit to Leadville, just a short 45-minute drive away. Don’t miss the Melanzana store (make sure to book an appointment first!) and High Mountain Pies pizza. It's the perfect place to explore before or after the wedding!
