We met at work! We both grew up in Rapid City, went to different high schools and different churches, left for colleges in separate directions, and moved back to our hometown in different years. We had to work through our own challenges that ultimately brought us both to employment at Black Hills Orthopedics. Lydia noticed Tyler and thought he was cute but wouldn't do anything because she thought he was younger than her (we are only two and half weeks apart in age!). Thankfully, Tyler made the first move and casually messaged Lydia through Facebook right before Halloween!

On a lovely fall day the first week of November, we went for hike and got to know each other better before going on our first official date to a local Mexican restaurant on November 10th. Tyler brought a beautiful bouquet of red roses and opened every door. Tyler was nervous and excited; Lydia had her moments of anxiety but knew he was genuinely one of the kindest men she'd ever met!

We went up to a spot called Falling Rock that has a gorgeous view of the hills to set up a hammock and read for awhile (at least that's what Tyler told Lydia!). We scoped out the perfect spot for the hammock and paused to take in the views. While Lydia was goofing around and taking a video of the scenery, she jokingly said "Love me!!" Tyler then pulled a box out of his hoodie and got down on one knee with the sweetest proposal! Lydia was so surprised and said "Is this real?" before a resounding YES!
