We will not be hosting a public wedding ceremony. Instead, we’ll be celebrating our marriage through a traditional Vietnamese tea ceremony, which will be an intimate gathering limited to family. We are very excited to celebrate afterwards with everyone during the festivities!
A Vietnamese tea ceremony is a deeply meaningful tradition that marks the formal union of two families. Rooted in centuries of Vietnamese culture, the ceremony centers around the couple offering tea to their parents and elders as a gesture of respect, gratitude, and filial piety. It’s a moment to honor family bonds, receive blessings, and symbolically welcome each other into their new families. The ritual often includes the exchange of gifts, ancestral offerings, and words of wisdom passed down through generations. Because the tea ceremony is so personal and emotionally significant, it’s traditionally held as an intimate gathering with only close family present. It’s not just a celebration of love between two people—it’s a quiet, sacred space where families connect, reflect, and bless the couple’s new beginning. Keeping it small allows for a deeper focus on these meaningful exchanges and preserves the cultural essence of the ceremony.
