The Wedding Website of Lydia Hanson and Matthew Hail
You can reach Balestrand by ferry, train, or car. There is a hotel block at the hotel, but feel free to grab other accommodations in the town if they are better suited. Just be aware of distance to town if you don't have a vehicle. As of 2025, Norway requires a visa registration. You can find all of the information for this at the following website: https://www.etiaseu.com. It is not currently up and running, but I will keep my eyes on it as we get closer. United States citizens do not need a visa; please check the Norwegian immigration website if you have a different nationality passport.

Hotel

Kviknes Hotel

The hotel will provide discounted rooms for those who book for the wedding. I can create a rooming list of individuals staying at the hotel for the most discounted rooms. Alternatively, you can book yourself under our names and still get a discount, though not as great.

Travel Note

Travel to Balestrand

Please be mindful that getting to Balestrand is a little limited. Driving a personal vehicle is always an option. And I believe there is a bus. But otherwise, it is basically necessary to take the ferry. For a shorter ferry ride, I recommend taking a train to Flam and then catching the ferry to Balestrand - please be mindful that there are only very limited ferries, sometimes one daily, to Balestrand. There are also a couple more ferries daily that leave from Bergen. We will be taking a ferry from Bergen to Balestrand on May 21st in the afternoon. There is only one ferry out of Balestrand to Flam on the 25th and it is in the morning. Please be advised. And reach out if you have any question!
