How Lydia and Lyle came to be

From BBM to can't get enough of 'em!

So, we met on BBM 2013. For those of you older or younger than us, BBM of course stands for Blackberry Messenger. That's right, a modern day romance that started with a PING!!!. (if you know, you know) If you have known us for a while you will know we like shoes. A lot. We began messaging and talking about our love for shoes until eventually, we would message all the time... Lyle was the nicest guy I had ever spoken to. I tried so hard not to fall for him as I had recently had my heart broken and was "done" with mushy feelings and boys etc. But we kept messaging and I could no longer hide my feelings. I confessed. I confessed how much I adored him, I confessed how ridiculous I felt for adoring him. I felt like a hopeless school girl with a crush on the older guy. "It's totally fine if you don't feel the same way!" I told him as I prepared myself for more heartbreak... I never went looking for this love, how would I know what to look for? A single "hey" of what was meant to be a quick exchange of random moments of small talk involving our somewhat minor obsession with anything trainers related. Sentences formed paragraphs, days turned into weeks and suddenly we became each other's daily "good morning".. Our routine. I began to see more than a friendship. Lydia was, and still is incredible. Beautiful with a sensational sense of humour, little bit of a fuse. A soul that felt like we've loved before. I didn't go looking for love. She found me. So our dear readers, it obviously worked out for Lydia and Lyle. shall we fast forward? April 2024, 10 years of us and a week away in Rhodes. Lyle and I rented a car for the day to drive to Lindos. Along the way we stopped off at Anthony Quinn Bay. It was breathtakingly beautiful, I remember it all just felt so special already (little did I know what was coming) as I had never been anywhere like this before and had always dreamed of a holiday in Greece. We had the bay nearly all to ourselves, to soak up all its beauty. It was an overcast day but warm and the water was so dramatic. we wandered up onto the rocks behind us to catch a better view of the crashing waves. Lyle asked me to stand and look out at the waves whilst he took a photo. When I turned back around there was Lyle down on one knee. "It's been a long time coming my darling" he said. All my emotions came to the surface as I blubbered a little yes and nod. Lyle here: I don't remember anything and felt sick the entire time! And now here you are on our wedding website!
