We were on a family trip to Gatlinburg, Tenessee, and we decided to go explore the city together before everyone else got up. He told me we could go to the Aquarium if would walk across the sky bridge. He was acting super weird and kept talking about the Skybridge, so we went up the ski lift to the Skybridge. We walked across, looked at the city, and then headed back to the other side. In the middle of the bridge, he got down on one knee and asked me the question that changed our lives forever.
After months of planning with Lydia's sister Dori, the weekend trip finally came. I scouted out the area for the perfect spot and decided on the Skybridge. She took forever to get ready and made a joke about getting engaged to the worship team, so I thought she knew what I had planned. Lydia is scared of heights, so it was hard to get her to go up the ski-lift. When we finally got up there, she basically ran across the bridge. We took a few quick pictures, and she was ready to rush back over. I let her go ahead of me, and I got the ring out of my boot. She turned around and I thought she saw it, but I used the sock that I found in my shirt as a coverup. We got to the middle where the glass was, and I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. She said yes!
After months and months of crushing on Lucas, (I even asked him on a date earlier on, and he ignored me) we finally planned a date to the movies. I had been on some really bad dates, so I just asked him to meet me there just in case something went wrong, I could leave. We awkwardly watched an action movie and drove over to Chick-Fil-A. We talked until the store close and went our separate ways. We talked on the phone the whole way home, and have been inseparable since. I remember thinking how much of a gentleman he was the entire night. He went above and beyond to make the night special.
A couple of weeks after our churches DNOW, I asked Lydia on a date to go see "Going In Style". I had offered to come to pick her up, but she quickly denied it. After the movie, we went and ate at Chick-Fil-A. I raced her because she argued with me which way was faster, and the whole time we were driving, we were on the phone. We have not stopped hanging out since.
