Lydia matched with Jordan on Hinge in Okoboji in the summer of 2023, while he was at a bachelor party and she was staying with her parents. He answered her prompt in his own way by quoting Goodfellas. The exact line he sent her was, "You insulted him a little bit." She was technically asking for the opening monologue, but points for creativity. Jordan gave Lydia his number right away, so he wouldn't miss his chance. They chatted for a while, though never quite connecting in person. Lydia then got a job in Decorah, Iowa, 4 hours from Colman. They both thought the talking would fizzle out, but then came the 2023 Iron Man in Madison, Wisc., in early September. Jordan was participating in the triathlon in the same city where Lydia had gone to grad school, and she knew plenty of spots. She decided to take a chance and asked to meet up with Jordan during that weekend - if he could fit her into his busy schedule of a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and 26.2-mile run. After FaceTiming for four hours on what could be considered their first date, they met for the first time in-person Madison, going to Tempest Oyster Bar in downtown Madison for dinner and Plain Spoke Cocktail Company for drinks as their first in-person date.
