Lydia and Jack met the summer of 2010. Lydia was going into her senior year at high school and Jack was going to start his first year of college at MATC. In 2012, Lydia went to college at UW-La Crosse, and Jack started at UW-Stout. They made many trips between La Crosse and Menominee to see each other during the school years before moving back to Milwaukee in 2016. When they moved back home to Milwaukee they got their first apartment together, and bought their first home in 2019. Currently they are working on renovating their home and enjoy taking trips hiking, camping, skiing, and exploring new places.
2020 was a year to remember for everyone, but for Lydia and Jack it was the start of their forever. Lydia and Jack have always loved hiking and traveling to new places. In October of 2020, Lydia and Jack decided to take a trip to Utah to explore two National Parks that have been on their bucket lists. During their first morning in Bryce Canyon National Park they caught the sunrise and hiked the Navajo Loop to Queens Garden. During this hike Lydia had no idea Jack was carrying a special box in his backpack the entire time. They hiked most of the day in Bryce then headed south to Zion. The first morning in Zion they decided to have a late start, and hike a less difficult trail called the Watchman Trail. Before leaving the hotel Jack had misplaced his phone somewhere in the room and was frantically looking for it. Lydia went to search Jack's backpack to double check it wasn't in there, and Jack panicked thinking she was going to spoil his surprise. Jack froze with fear as she dug into the bag but, Lydia did not find the box and ended up finding his phone on the sofa. Once they left the hotel they headed to the park and started their hike to the Watchman trail which was embedded in the mountains overlooking the nearest city, Springdale. Once they were at the top, Jack decided he wanted to have a little breakfast away from all the people. They found a nice rock and sat for a snack. Lydia was sitting and just finishing her food when Jack came over and got on one knee. He told her that he had something special in his bag for her, and Lydia not knowing his plan assumed Jack was talking about more snacks. Jack smiled, and pulled out a small red box, and asked Lydia to spend the rest of her life with him. Lydia gave the easiest yes of her life and they ditched their sunset hike to celebrate in town with a few beers and dinner with a mountain side view.
