In todays world it's not very uncommon to hear "we met on a dating app" (surprise if you didn't already know!!). However, it's probably not so common that the guy you met on tinder comes to your house to meet not only you, but your whole family for the first time. And in true Clay fashion, it was not planned very far in advance *cough, cough*, my dad didn't know he was coming until he was already there. Clay, my sister, and I left to go fishing and my mom broke the news to my dad when he got home, that tinder guy had popped by for a visit. With little luck fishing we headed back to the house, I was a bit nervous pulling into the driveway seeing my dad sitting outside his shop (surprisingly not cleaning a gun), waiting to meet this guy. Clay however, walks right up and shakes his hand saying, "Hi, I'm Clay Swearingen" to which my dad replies, "Are you Mike or Sam's son?".... I was too stunned to speak. What are the chances, my dad knows this guys dad (Mike), and his uncle (Sam)?? Turns out my dad attended a rodeo school hosted by Mike and Sam, back before Clay and I were even thought of. I'll never be quite sure how Clay didn't get scared away that very day, but I'm so glad he didn't. A few days later we met up for dinner and a movie, nothing special, but our first "official" date. We sat in my car listening to music and talking after the movie. When out of the blue Clay plays a song, and just gets out of the car. Leaving me thinking for a second, “did he just leave without so much as a goodbye??” Then my door swings open and he asks me to dance. Suddenly, there we were dancing to Cowboy Take Me Away and Travelin' Solider in the parking lot. It was like something out of my dreams. Although, if it had been a dream we wouldn't have been in Hornell, NY. They say "when you know, you know" and I never believed that, but that night, driving home, we both just knew.
