Four years ago (or so we agreed upon months after the fact), we met at an Otto Tunes party after another fantastic acapella performance. I was greeted at the basement door by a handsome guy who, instead of stamping my hand with the admission smiley face, drew a bunch of lines and dots all over the back of my hand. He told me it was Chinese and meant, "Beautiful American" and I was head over heels... although, it could have meant something like "smelly socks" and I wouldn't know the difference. After almost every date, dance, or activity we did together, we would go to Denny's for breakfast. At Denny's we would always have our serious, get-to-know-you talks over my sugar coated pancakes and (if you know Carter) his meat, hash browns, and a side of more hash browns. The comfort food was Carter and I's sanctuary after my nights of pacing in Link 105, or after he finished a 10 mile ruck with Pershing Rifles. It slowly became "our place" to talk about everything and nothing, or just to take a break from the world together. We are so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you on Lake George!
