Travel Note
Your options are to either fly into Athens, Greece, which is about a 3-3.5 hour drive to Koroni, or to fly into Kalamata, Greece, which is about a 45 minute drive to Koroni. It is more affordable and there are more options to fly into Athens. If you fly into Kalamata you will have a layover in Athens. Either way, you will need a rental car to get around once you land. When ordering a rental car - keep in mind the space you will need for your luggage! The trunks of the vehicles are usually much smaller than you would expect! We recommend flying into Athens, doing some sightseeing there for a few days, and then driving down to Koroni for the wedding! There are beautiful beaches nearby and a historic harbor lined with local shops and restaurants in Koroni, so feel free to spend 3-4 days here. We will be skipping over to the Greek island of Rhodes after the wedding from August 19-23rd (we encourage you to stay longer, or do some other island hopping if time allows because it is beautiful on all of the islands!!). We will be staying at an all-inclusive in Rhodes (see hotel info below). It would be great to have everyone stay at the same resort! You will probably want a rental car in Rhodes. Although we will be staying at an all inclusive, there are so many beautiful beaches and attractions along the coast of the island that you won't want to miss! For Lodging: There are many hotels and airbnbs in Athens. The Athens neighborhood of Plaka is centrally located and a tourist "must see" because of its beautiful views of the adjacent Acropolis. Hotels within Plaka can be pricey, but choosing a nearby neighborhood may be a little more affordable. There are a few hotels near Koroni and several Airbnbs - list posted under "Hotels / Airbnbs in Koroni". A note on driving on the mainland: Most of the drive from Athens to Koroni is highway, however the last 45 minutes or so has some windy roads!

August 18 - recovery day August 19 - drive to Athens airport, return rental car, fly to Rhodes, pick up Rhodes rental car, check into Rhodes lodging August 20 - enjoy Rhodes August 21 - enjoy Rhodes August 22 - enjoy Rhodes August 23 - return Rhodes rental car at airport, fly back to Athens airport, check into airbnb near airport (Spata neighborhood) August 24 - fly back to US
