Unfortunately there is no way to completely avoid traffic in Chicago, but we have some tips that we have learned from experience! Rush hour is usually 6-9am and 3-6pm. If you're driving from home or Ubering into the city from the airport, AVOID arriving during these times. We strongly suggest taking the Blue line from O'Hare if you're comfortable which is extremely easy, avoids traffic, and takes you directly into the city!
We all know parking in a major city can be tough. If you choose to drive though, it really shouldn't be a huge problem! If you're driving to-and-from the wedding, the Blackstone has a valet service. Our best advice for weekend parking is to use Spot Hero, which you can find online or via the phone app. Simply input your location and dates, and it will refer you to the nearest long-term parking for the cheapest rates. If you choose to stay at the Blackstone or another hotel, please inquire about parking reservations when you reserve your room.
There are many ways to get around the city. The most convenient option is Uber, Lyft, or Curb (which is a cab service). You can also download the Ventra app on your phone or buy a Ventra card so you can take the buses or "L," which is Chicago's elevated train system. You will also see blue Divvy bikes everywhere around the city which you can easily rent via your Lyft app! Most places in the downtown area are walkable!
