Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Allison Luurtsema and Colton Schreur
Don't be afraid to check out the best things West Michigan has to offer! These places and activities are either generically fun things to do or hold a special meaning to us and our story.

Rosy Mound Natural Area

13925 Lakeshore Avenue, Grand Haven, MI 49417

This was the place where we first intentionally spent time together! We walked and talked more than either of us expected, but apparently not long enough because we both wanted the conversation to continue. And we have been continuing that conversation ever since. Partly for that reason, and partly because it is a beautiful place to hike and experience Lake Michigan, it is also where we got Engaged! Rosy mound will forever hold a special place in our story.

Holland State Park

2398 Ottawa Beach Road, Holland, MI 49424

Not a bad place to view the sunset over Lake Michigan. And by not bad we mean quite possibly the very best. We have had quite a few opportunities to experience these sunsets together as a couple, and we are looking forward to many, many more. Bringing ice cream or take out to eat in the trunk on a chillier fall day makes for an even better experience. A walk along the channel and out to the pier or in the sand on a warm and sunny day is also highly recommended. A polar plunge (or at least dipping your toes in the water), regardless of lake temperature, is of course absolutely necessary with any visit to the State Park.

Captain Sundae

365 Douglas Avenue, Holland, MI 49424

Ice Cream. Buy it. Eat it. Enjoy it. Three locations across Holland and Zeeland, we are partial to the north Holland location because it is closest to our future home together and it lies between us and the State Park. Allie's personal favorite is a simple twisty cone (please don't judger her), and Colton's favorite is the Beach Bum Sundae featuring cookie dough pieces, brownie pieces, hot fudge, and hot caramel.

Downtown Holland

150 West 8th Street, Holland, MI 49423

Enough said. Rivaled only by Pella, IA for the quantity of tulips, Downtown Holland is a beautiful place to walk and experience the fun shops and food the City has to offer.

Mount Baldhead

Saugatuck, MI 49453

303 steps to the top (apparently, you'll have to count yourself to verify), with a dune just as steep on the backside. If you hike all the way down the dune, you will find yourself at Oval Beach!

Oval Beach

690 Perryman Street, Saugatuck, MI 49453

An amazing beach to help you experience Saugatuck and Lake Michigan. We have never been here together as a couple, so you will need to check it out and let us know what you think!

John Ball Zoo

1300 Fulton Street West, Grand Rapids, MI 49504
