Our love story began at Bar Bocce in Sausalito where we were both attending a surprise birthday party for Nic, who would later become Kenny's Best Man. After two hours of Kenny asking about "that girl" and Laura awkwardly refusing to look in Kenny's direction, she finally built up the courage to approach him. The night consisted of flirtatious banter, a change of location, and ended with Kenny grabbing Laura's hand as he walked her to her car. (For the record, Kenny vehemently disagrees with this part of the story, instead claiming that Laura grabbed his hand.) Either way, a day hasn't passed since that chance meeting that they haven't spoken, and they're both better for it.
We decided to move to Marin and were spending weekends renovating our new home. On the day of the proposal, Laura dropped Kenny off at home and left to get a haircut. Having decided that he wanted to propose in our first home together, Kenny put his plan into action - decorating the house with rose petals, candles, string lights, and puzzle pieces (a recurring symbol in our relationship). Meanwhile, Laura walked into her hair salon (which doubles as one of her favorite clothing stores) and announced that she needed "proposal hair and a new outfit." (Kenny still believes he was keeping the secret well.) When Laura got home, she was greeted at the door by Harley (the hero of every story) wearing a sign that read: "Mom, will you marry Pop?" Harley then led Laura down the candlelit hallway to the dining area where Kenny was waiting ready to pop the question. Laura answered with a resounding "yes!" and the rest is history!
