After the world shut down, it was hard meeting people in a "traditional" way and this love story is a testament of that. Lustra and Alex met on a dating app called Hinge. Lustra was teaching in Anderson at the time and wasn't having any luck with meeting people so she changed her location to Charlotte. Ironically, she changed her location on the same weekend that Alex was visiting his parents in Gastonia. She even had a nickname for Alex when she talked about him to her friends, Shrimp and Grits (since he was living in Charleston at the time). They instantly clicked. They chatted for hours on the phone before deciding to meet in person and after a very successful first meeting, Alex wanted to travel back to Anderson to take Lustra on a real date. But life took a turn when Alex ruptured his achilles playing soccer and had to cancel. Lustra drove to Charleston to help take care of Alex and she described him as the "worst patient ever." But during that time they spent together, they knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives taking care of each other. After Lustra's father's health declined, Alex decided to move to Greenville so Lustra was not far from her family and so they could start their lives together. After just a year of living in Greenville, Alex asked for Lustra's hand in marriage at the Furman University Rose Garden and through the tears of happiness, she said yes!
